Excursions & mountaineering: our recommendations
To Cresta Monte Gruppo and Cime di Pozzo
A walk for everyone wishing to take in some delightful and picturesque mountain scenery. The Cime di Pozzo consists of three peaks, one of which is the Cresta Monte Gruppo (2438 m). Below is the lake of Rio Verde, and the hike is definitely worth the while.

On the Butterfly Trail
Meadows full of flowers, with small copper butterflies, painted ladies, countless common brimstones, red admirals and many other butterflies fluttering in the air. The "Butterfly Trail" is ideal for a long family outing.

Bike and MTB: our recommendations
The Sunshine Road of Chienes-Terento-Falzes-Brunico
Would you like to take in the sun while on the saddle? We have the perfect solution for you: the Sunshine Road which takes you and your bicycle or MTB through Val Pusteria.
Starting point: Chienes Town Hall.

Val Pusteria - Pusterbike cycle route
Our hotel is only 100 m from the route, so your cycling holiday can begin practically on our doorstep. The Val Pusteria Cycle Route covers 105 km and leads from Rio di Pusteria to Lienz in Eastern Tyrol. You can take this in stages (recommended for families in particular) though it is also doable in one day (for cyclists who have the energy and stamina).

Traveling by bike
Tight bends, seemingly endless winding roads, high mountain passes and breath-taking panoramic views all add to the pleasure of the ride: Val Pusteria and all the Dolomites have so much to offer cyclists and bikers. Hotel restaurant Steger is the ideal place for anyone seeking adventure.
Lake Issengo
A ten-minute drive from San Sigismondo, Lake Issengo is a good place to relax and cool down, and there is also an adventure park.
Castles & Museums
You are never far from a castle or fort in South Tyrol. There are two you can admire at Chienes (albeit only from the outside): Castle Schöneck and Casteldarne.
